New River
Documentary photo essay on the Shipibo Conibo community Cantagallo, migrant and resident in Lima.
Cantagallo is located between the Rimac River and the Panamerican Highway, in the District of Rimac in Lima – Peru. This community preserves, through different media such as language, dress, food, and among others ways, their Amazon identity.
The location of Cantagallo, almost between two rivers, has guarded and delineated its identity and cultural transformations in a community and individual level. Their identity is been contained, transformed and adapted to the migratory process from the native Amazonian Ucayali coastal and desert Lima.
